On October 12, 2019, Wang Qifan of Kunming, Yunnan province, submitted an application form and information to Forbes World Records to apply for the world record for the "highest altitude cultivation of one-head garlic".
After receiving Wang Qifan's application form and data sheet, the UK headquarters of Forbes World Records Certification conducted a rigorous review of the information, and finally confirmed that Wang Qifan had created a new world record and awarded him a World Record Certificate.
Wang Qifan is the chairman of Kunmingmingfan Agricultural Technology Development Co., LTD., engaged in garlic planting for more than 20 years, and has in-depth research on single-head garlic cultivation.
Different from ordinary garlic, single head garlic is only one to two garlic cloves without garlic heart and garlic table. However, the effective ingredients in the single head garlic are several times that of ordinary garlic, and have certain medicinal value, and the effect of cancer prevention is higher than that of ordinary split garlic.
Under the conventional production mode, the formation rate of one-headed garlic is very low, and it is difficult to meet the market requirements. Therefore, one-headed garlic is not common in the market.
Wang Qifan said that he has been committed to the cultivation of one-head garlic research, and can plant one-head garlic at an altitude of 3050 meters this time, which is the result of his test again and again. Due to the influence of altitude, climate, soil, sowing time, land smoothness, water retention facilities, planting density, seed selection and other factors, the planting technology of one-head garlic is required to be high. In the process of many trials, Wang Qifan solved these problems one by one.
The diameter of this batch of single head garlic is mostly 4-5cm, which is larger than the single head garlic on the market, beautiful in appearance, convenient to eat and peel, and the edible rate is 5% to 10% higher than ordinary garlic. He was very satisfied with the yield and the finished product of the plant.
In 2009, Wang Qifan and four major farmers established the new farming and breeding Association, which has more than 60 members up to now. In recent years, Wang Qifan has led the people of Dongchuan District through garlic cultivation with the support of the local agriculture bureau, making the 10,000 mu of wasteland into a " Treasure bowl ".
